[ARCHIVED] Central Mass Mosquito Control Project- Abandoned Pools

Central Mass Swimming pools

Summer is here and we need your help locating and treating abandoned swimming pools in your community. Abandon pools create significant larval mosquito habitat that can impact entire neighborhoods. CMMCP utilizes a one-time bacterial product that can reduce or eliminate the hatch of all mosquito species from such sites, including some species which are able to carry disease.

Treatment of the pools is at no cost to the city/town or the resident, and the pool can later be opened if the resident so desires. We ask that if there is an abandoned or foreclosed property, or a potential neighborly dispute, to inform our office by e-mail at Timothy.McGlinchy@mass.gov granting us authority from your office to treat the pool. Residents can contact us directly at (508) 393-3055 or log onto our website at https://www.cmmcp.org and sign up under the Seasonal Updates section, look for "Abandoned Swimming Pools".

Information on these bacterial products used by CMMCP can be found on our website at https://www.cmmcp.org/pesticide-information/pages/combination-btibsph.
