Who is eligible to participate in the Town of Chelmsford's benefit program?
The Town of Chelmsford's health plans and benefit options are applicable to personnel who are permanent full-time employees and permanent part-time employees working a regularly scheduled work week of at least 20 hours per week and participate in a public retirement system.
Employees who work less than the hours required per week are not eligible for health benefits.
The SMART Plan is a retirement savings program authorized
under section 457 of the Internal Revenue Code, commonly
called a 457 deferred compensation program, that allows
eligible employees to save and invest before-tax and after-tax
dollars through salary deferrals (contributions)
