If you are having trouble making mortgage payments or experiencing problems dealing with your mortgage holder, the state Department of Consumer Affairs suggests you contact the NeighborWorks' HOPE Hotline at (888) 995-HOPE (4673).

Making Home Affordable Program

The federal government has established a program of services and information to help homeowners deal with issues of affordability and foreclosure. For example, employed homeowners who are struggling to make their mortgage payments may be able to lower their monthly premiums though the Home Affordable Modification Program. Homeowners who decide they cannot afford their current housing may seek help avoiding foreclosure through the Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives Program.
