Stages of a Fire

The “Stages of a Fire” document provides information about the four primary stages of a fire and the ability to effectively fight the fire during the four stages.  Modern construction materials and design result in fires burning and spreading faster.  In the transition between the Growth Stage and the Fully Developed stage, flash point temperatures can reach 1000+ degrees Fahrenheit, making it impossible for first responders to be inside the building.

Fire station locations with the ability to house modern staff and equipment needs are one of the critical factors in having sufficient response times to both evacuate structural fire victims and in combating the fire itself.
