Public Education Opportunities and Events

We encourage you to explore this website to help inform your decision regarding the debt exclusion vote to renovate and rebuild Station 3 located at 260 Old Westford Road and Station 5 located at 295 Acton Road.  The sections in this website contain summary and detailed information regarding the Fire Station Study Committee (FSSC) extensive evaluation of Chelmsford’s fire station needs.  In addition, the “Fire Station Debt Exclusion – Property Tax Impact” section provides instructions for calculating the approximate property tax impact for your specific address. 

Planned public education opportunities and events include: 

• September, Educational Videos:  An educational video regarding the current state of the Town’s fire stations will be posted to this site.  Development of an educational video demonstrating a Firefighter Extrication Drill is also planned. 
• Thursday, September 12^th, Chelmsford Telemedia Recorded Discussion Regarding the Proposed Fire Station Reconstruction Projects:  Kelly Beattie will be hosting a discussion with members of the FSSC regarding the proposed reconstruction of Station 3 located at 260 Old Westford Road and Station 5 located at 295 Acton Road.  The program will be recorded, rebroadcasted, and available for replay.  
• Wednesday, September 18^th, 5:30-6:00pm, Strategic Plan Community Engagement Forum Open House at the Chelmsford Elks Lodge located at 300 Littleton Road: Representatives from the FSSC will host a table from 5:30-6:30pm at the Open House prior to the formal event start at 6:00pm. 
• Saturday, September 21^st, 12:00-4:00pm, Historical Society Farm Fair at the Barrett-Byam Homestead located at 40 Byam Road:  The Chelmsford Fire Department (CFD) and FSSC members will be available at the CFD display area.
• Saturday, September 28^th, 1:00am-4:00pm, Chelmsford Health Department’s Annual Fall Festival, on the Town Common:  The Chelmsford Fire Department (CFD) and FSSC members will be available at the CFD display area.  CFD is also planning on providing information regarding Mock Scenes and Tools Demonstrations,
• Saturday, October 5^th, 10:00am-2:00pm, Stations 3 & 5 Tours:   The Public can drop by Station 3 located at 260 Old Westford Road and Station 5 located at 295 Acton Road for in‑person tours.  
• Thursday, October 10^th, 7:00pm, Public and Town Meeting Information Sessions at Station 3 located at 260 Old Westford Road:  The FSSC and CFD will host an information session with Q&A for the Public and Town Meeting Representatives.
• Wednesday, October 16^th, 7:00pm, Town Manager Fall Town Meeting Preview for Town Meeting Representatives, North Town Hall located at 31 Princeton Street:   The Town Meeting Warrant Article related to the reconstruction of Stations 3 & 5 will be included in this session.  For more detailed information and dialogue, Town Meeting Representatives are welcome to attend the Thursday, October 10^th Information Session.  
• Sunday, October 20^th, 11:00am-2:00pm, Chelmsford Fire Department (CFD) Fire SAFE Open House at Station 1 located at 50 Billerica Road:   Members of the FSSC will be available during the CFD’s Fire Prevention Week open house to provide information and answer questions.  
• Tuesday, October 29^th, 7:00pm, Public Open Q&A at Station 3 located at 260 Old Westford Road:  Members of the FSSC will be available for any questions from the public prior to the November 5^th State Election where the override to fund the Station 3 and Station 5 reconstructions will be on the ballot.
